Foreign Legal Consultant Permit

Full circle moment – practicing Indian law in Canada. The journey of an internationally trained lawyer ITL.

Happy to share that I have officially been licensed by the Law Society of Ontario as a Foreign Legal Consultant in Ontario, expanding the scope of my Family Law practice to include legal advice on Indian laws.

In the past, I have been required to consult external experts in India to weigh in on issues such as dowry claims, property disputes, or how a Canadian divorce impacts proceedings overseas. Now, I am able to offer that service within my firm – Ontario Family Law Solutions – and provide that same expertise to other professionals navigating cross-border matters as an expert amicus.

This step strengthens the support we are able to offer our clients, and I am grateful to bridge these two legal systems in a way that’s practical, informed, and long overdue, especially in the areas which we service.

If you are a legal professional or service provider who needs insight on Indian family law in the context of a Canadian case, feel free to connect. Happy to offer this perspective and be consulted where it can make a difference.
